Your plane lands at the Male’ International Airport, which for many is an attraction by itself. As you come out of the arrivals terminal you are greeted by the representative of your resort. The transfer to the resort which is by boat, speedboat or sea plane is arranged by the resort to suite your request. While resorts close to the airport offers a choice of motor boat or speed boat, the most convenient mode of transfer to resorts in the outer atolls is by seaplane. Your decision on the mode of transfer may be made after consideration of the time and distance involved in the transfer.

The Maldivian resort is unique in several ways. The most notable aspect of which is that each resort is self-contained. A single resort occupies the whole island. While the rooms are individual or semi-detached bungalows built around the island facing the beach, or built over water in the shallow lagoon that surround the island, the restaurants and the bars, games rooms, gymnasium, spas and swimming pool may be built in a centralized area or scattered around the island to give each an individual and unique feel. What surprises many is that in all of these resort islands the only inhabitants other than the guests are the resort staff.
